Adam Craske’s small scale conversions

We’ve just received some Member’s Models photos from Adam Crake. This time Adam has been working on small scale mine clearance vehicles. I have a special interest in these vehicles since my uncle was one of the so-called ‘D-Day Dodgers’ posted to Italy prior to D-Day. When the army found out he had been a draftsman in ‘Civy Street’ he was posted to a drawing office in Italy to work on the mine clearance vehicles in preparation for D-Day, so thanks for this one Adam!

Adam tells us that these are mostly conversions of Airfix 1/76 originals –

Matilda Scorpion I
Matilda Baron IIIA
Sherman V Crab I
(Matchbox / Revell hull; Airfix suspension, turret (enlarged) & flail gear; Dan Taylor flail chains)(not sure where the tracks come from)

Also, Adam adds, “On the long-term to-do list are M3 & M4 Scorpions and a Churchill Toad, to complete the range, but at the moment I’ve had enough of fiddly little chains. On to something else”.

We look forward to seeing them Adam. By the way, at the Perth Show last week I was asked what is a good source of various sizes of scale chain. Search ‘model anchor chain’. The model shipbuilders seems to have plenty to choose from.
