They say that imitation is the purest form of flattery. Back in 2018 I did an article for Airfix Model World on my Vietnam Guntruck build. You can now read the whole article for free (see note below) here: https://www.keymodelworld.com/article/mother-invention
Note: Since publishing this post Key Publications have decided to no longer provide the article for free.
Recently I was doing some further research on Vietnam Guntrucks and I was intrigued to see an illustration of my model promoting an article on HISTORYNET.COM. You can see the page here: https://www.historynet.com/m54-gun-truck-the-savior-of-the-support-convoy/
I’m flattered that they are using my model as an example, but if they read the article they would know that this vehicle – ‘Mothers Worry’ was entirely a product of my imagination*. There was no such vehicle, and here’s a serious history website showing ‘Mothers Worry’ as if it was a real gun truck. Just shows that you can’t believe everything you see on line – particularly when you are doing research for a model project. Anyway, thanks for noticing my model guys.
A further search also found this: https://warbrickhq.com/products/brick-designers-vietnam-era-gun-truck-printed-parts, but we won’t go there!
*Quote for my original article: “The example built here, ‘Mother’s Worry’, isn’t an actual vehicle, but was based on the name of a Revell cartoon model kit of one of Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth’s creations in the 1960s”.
