With so many great model manufacturers based in Ukraine I suppose it was only a matter of time until we heard that someone we knew of had fallen victim to this senseless war. This morning we learned that Valery Grygorenko, creator of those great Roden box artworks was killed in a Russian attack near Kyiv.
Details are sketchy, so we won’t speculate, but you can learn more here: http://roden.eu/HTML/framenews.html
I have Roden’s M42 US 3/4 ton 4×4 Command Truck on my workbench at the moment. The box illustration is simply signed ‘Val’. I think I’ll frame it. Rest in peace Valery. Your work will be your memorial. You can see some of his work in a special gallery on https://www.themodellingnews.com/2022/03/vale-influential-model-artist-valery.html.
