REVIEW:
TANKETTE VOLUME 60/4 AUGUST 2025

So we are at issue 4 from the current volume of Tankette already. The cover photo is a model Cromwell set on a diorama. This model was on show at the 2025 MAFVA Nationals in June, and a report appears later in the magazine.
Member’s Models on page 2 displays models from several members, and provides a bit of inspiration to us all.
Page 3 has the contacts list for officers, the contents list and editorial from Robin Buckland, and announces the two winners of the book competition.
Dick Harley delivers part five of his series on the Cromwell Tank, concentrating on the tanks of the Centaur Group. Highly informative and complete with six sets of scale drawings, this is the essential next step of the series.
We then have a build article producing a small scale Churchill ARV Mk II by Peter Davenport. This is quite the kit-bash that produces a neat model.
The Dragon light gun tractor is the subject of a build article from Len Thompson, and he matches this with an 18/25pdr field gun as seen with the 1940 BEF. An excellent 1/76th kit bash which uses available products from a variety of sources, and some skilful plastic bashing.
Drawing on the stock of John Church plans that have been bequeathed to MAFVA we have his plan of the F.W.D. HAR-1 in 1/76th scale. Ideal for a scratchbuild, as far as I know no kits exist at the moment.
David Fletcher gives us an interesting article on the Pierce-Arrow armoured car, and its use by the Royal Marines in WW1.
The ’Case for Books’ features short reviews of six recently published books, giving us a heads up on what is about.
‘Out in the Marketplace’ is where Editor Robin Buckland brings us news of recent and future kit releases. With so many products being released these days it is difficult to keep up to speed.
Camouflage guru Mike Starmer then gives us his ‘quick-fix’ on how to paint the Caunter scheme without tears using a paper model. Intriguing!
Lastly we have Robin’s report on the 2025 MAFVA Nationals that were held in June at the Burgess Hall in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire. As well as the narrative there are plenty of photos to convey the atmosphere of the event.
Another cracking issue of Tankette with plenty of scale drawings, excellent!
