Paul Badman’s Yearbook

By John Paulding on July 17, 2024 Members' Models

Master modeller and MAFVA member, Paul Badman has sent us numerous pictures of his work in the past. This time he has sent us a whole year’s worth of pictures along with some notes about his builds. Take a look and see why Paul is consistently winning golds at the MAFVA Nationals.

5M model, Panzerkampfwagen II, Ausf. H VK903.
This is straight from the box, the kit is extremely rare.
The detail however is fantastic as is the fit. The only thing wrong with it, are the instructions. They say add the co-driver visor cover and also the dummy cover in the middle of the front armour plate, these were not on the real vehicle.
The figure is a 3D print from Panzer Art.

Italeri T-55, 1/72
Grand little kit to which I added the Gas Hans, 3D printed tracks, RB Model main Gun barrel, fuel lines from copper wire, tow-cables are also copper wire which came from loud speaker wire, turret tie-downs and grab handles from copper wire, tissue tarp and mantlet cover and lastly, a scratched 12.7mm gun barrel.
As this vehicle is depicting one from Prague 1968, I added the invasion markings with an acrylic white pencil.

Another excellent kit straight from the box.
The urban camo scheme was copied from a vehicle operating at the Schnöggersburg German Army Training Center.

Oddballs Sherman Tamiya-Formation Models conv. – 1/35

The base kit is from Tamiya, it’s the old M4A3 Sherman, kit no.MM222A. The Formation Model conversion is kit no.F100. I also added Friul Tracks, reworked RB Model 76mm barrel, optics guards are from Schumo Model, the hatch springs are copper wire as is the wiring for the speaker, the aircraft version .50 is from Academy with an RB Model barrel. The stowage is right old mix, the hanging bags are from Red Zebra, the tarp, kit bag, and sand bags are made from Magic Sculpt. Boxes, helmets, Jerry cans, grave light, milk churn are from Tamiya, Miniart, Plus Model. The oil can on the fender started life as a milk churn, I changed this a tad and added the pouring spout. The Stars are sprayed, the vehicle reg no. is made from Archer Dry transfers and the posters were printed onto paper.
